An Tús

Creative Partner Anne Kirby was born outside of Dublin, Ireland and moved to Western Pennsylvania with her family at age 7. She studied Commercial Art & Design and Web Development at WCCC where she developed a knack for simple, clean design. In 2001 she moved to Lancaster, PA where she now lives with her husband, George, and her two sons, Austin and Georgie.

Anne has over 12 years of experience in designing for print and web applications. She gained initial experience working for small businesses in their marketing departments, but, following a long genetic line of entrepreneurs, it wasn’t long until she began a successful business of her own in 2005 with HunterKirby Design. In the summer of 2007 she started a creative social network group called the Creative House of Lancaster (CHL), and in 2008 Anne became a Creative Partner at Not Bad Design (NBD). This position at NBD not only allowed Anne the ability to put another acronym in her resume, it also afforded her the opportunity to work with many wonderful local and regional businesses and nonprofits, helping them to develop their brands, promote their products, and develop strategies to set them apart from their competitors.

Candy is sweet…

In 2010, feeling the itch to be surrounded by even more creative and innovative professionals, Anne and her NBD business partner founded the Candy Factory, Lancaster’s first (and only) co-working space. And no, we don’t call it TCF, but thanks for asking. Anne now is the sole proprietor of the Candy Factory, which is home to approximately 40 entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small business professionals (including Kinectiv) who desire full-time or part-time office space and the camaraderie of like-minded businesspeople.

There’s more to life than work

Anne is passionate about giving back to her local community and believes that volunteering is one of the most important things anyone can do. She’s had the pleasure of working with many local nonprofits including her personal favorite, Lancaster’s branch of Buy Fresh Buy Local. When she’s not working or teaching workshops on social media, Anne is busy organizing events at the Candy Factory and (literally) running after her kids and two dogs, Hazel and Duncan.

Betcha didn’t know…

When Anne was a kid, she was a member of her family’s singing group “The Kirby Singers.”
